Get ready to fall in line for this place. $38 per person for dinner. Numerous choices on the buffet. Ramen station and hotpot stations are all included. Sushi station was the best! The place is clean and organized. Halway to the restrooms were sticky. They just need to mop better. Staff are proactive in cleaning tables. They were all helpful and friendly. The only challenge is, I could hardly understand them.
I saw that this buffet had 4.8 stars, which is the highest out of any buffet in the area. However, it didn't wow me in any way. The food wasn't bad, but I wouldn't say that it's worth the price. I liked the variety though and the drink selection was nice. The sushi was clean and fresh. The service was very good and our table was kept clean. If you are fine with the price, I would say that this buffet is worth it. Also, I was suprised that there was no wait when I went (Saturday at 3:00), since many reviews said that they waited about an hour.
We had a nice time here and are glad we visited. The restaurant is bright and modern looking with dining areas scattered around. Overall, i think the reason Umi is popular is because food quality, presentation, preparation is just a little better..maybe 10 to 20% better than what you would expect, in my opinion of course. Their sushi, rolls and sashimi selection is pretty standard but where they stand out is their cooked seafood offering. There's a lot to choose from and many are actually quite good. Because it's busy, Trays are refilled frequently which means what you get is hot and recently prepared. A virtuous cycle. Ramen and mini hot pot is available on top of the stuff you get from the buffet tables. They offer complimentary milk teas and sweet teas as well in the two refrigerated cases. Service wise the 2 waitresses in our area were friendly, helpful and efficient. Try to get there before 6pm to avoid a long wait. A 12% gratuity is included in the bill. Post on TikTok or Instagram and you get a free lobster tail with steak (surf and turf) or 5% off the bill if you decline the lobster (check with waitress though). Dinner is $40 person. Total bill for the 3 of us was $140 ...very reasonable these days. We will return when we get a chance
I saw a review where they allowed social media to over hype the experience. Well I gave him the benefit of the doubt and decided to take my family here. I completely AGREE with the review. This place is over hyped. Looks nice they display their food nice. The moment we walked in during lunch it felt humid. The sushi was warm and pretty bland in our experience. They have a huge selection but none of them pleased us. I got their miso ramen. Looks pretty. But was also bland. We did love that they have unlimited drinks amd a wide variety of milk teas. The servers were nice at first came to our table and grabbed plates consistently which is good. Fries were stale. While we were still eating though we had one bring us a check. Then we had 4 doffrent servers trying to come and collect the payment. We were still eating. I didn't even take a look at the check because I didn't plan on leaving yet. That was dissapointing. Soo overall wouldn't be coming back. Paid 115$ and wasn't happy with not 1 dish. Marking it off my list.
The food wasn't bad, but the sushi didn't taste right. Being from Vancouver B.C. there's an abundance of good sushi restaurants and I can tell the good from the bad. The sushi here seems to have absorbed a plastic taste which was off putting. That said, the prawns were crispy and tasty. The Ramen noodles were pretty good too. There is a large buffet with a variety of generally tasty food options. Our server was friendly and speedy but it was a little difficult to understand her accent at times.
